Drawing Exchange – Children’s Library, Old Medina, Fez, Morocco

Children get tickets and cue up for an hour of reading and art at this little library. There is only space for 10-12 kids at  a time. On a Saturday there are lines waiting!  I thought it would be nice to work with Fes friends, creating accordian books where they will transcribe short Moroccan tales from Arabic to English. Childten also illustrated one side of book with their own local pictures, and friends at River School collaged and drew on the other. They had never seen or heard of a moose before they saw your pictures of them!

We donated the Return, Quest, Journey series, where funny stories were added to illustrations in Arabic and French. There are no words on the pages so it is open ended word play for any language! It is always wonderful to communicate around the world through art (and the heart!)
